I have been networking my house for the last two weeks now. The goal is to be able to access all my files from anywhere in the house. What I'm hoping to build is a server of somewhere around 12 to 20 TB to store all my video footage pictures and music collections as well as my family's.
The first step is to establish the infrastructure. Now luckily my dad had already wired the house with ethernet cable otherwise known as RJ-45, however none of that cable has been crimped or wall plated.
At present I have five more ethernet connections to take care of. Each wall plate consists of one Ethernet cable one phone cable and two coaxial cables so my wall plates need to have four sockets each.
Anyone have a good line on where to find good wall plates or female ends?
I don't know why I bother with these do-it-yourself projects after all I live in a house full of engineers. Why aren't they taking care of this?
Let the games begin!
